June 14, 2022 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: JD Photaku Description: Ultra Podcast Z had a really weird week. Manuel was indisposed because of a lot of personal irl nonsense and Nyaru was going to take the week off. Normally, either of these things (especially Manuel not being able to make it), would mean that the episode would be cancelled but JD, our mod who has been on every episode for about year now as our mod, decided that he could get a show together on his own and got Photaku, who himself has replaced Nyaru many times recently, to join him as co-host. We had some ideas of what we were going to talk about this summer but JD decided to focus on a more topical idea: E3 game news since there won't be any sort of E3 this year at all. There was a lot of game talk, a lot of random talk and then things moved to Netflix news and the old standby: anime conventions. More talk about updates and a lot about JD's recent trip to Anime Boston closed what was a very unique show. It's unknown if this kinda format will ever happen again, but it's interesting that the show can indeed go on without either of its hosts. Also, if you look at the chat, Manuel was in the show a lot actually but only in spirit! Anyway, hopefully next week will see Manuel and Nyaru return, and if not, we know that the should CAN still go on! April 12, 2022 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Description: Ultra Podcast Z is back after another small break as we skipped last week because Nyaru wasn't feeling well. This week we were a little more alive and decided that we'd cover all sorts of video game nonsense, in the form of recommendations. It was hard separating this one as it was a bit all over the place and actually quickly devolved into a discussion of the new Sonic movie and more about the games in general. The Sonic talk takes up about half the show and you can leave hate comments below for Manuel as he referred to Sally Acorn as "Sally Fox". Also we determined that Rouge The Bat was the best Sonic girl even though she technically wasn't in the poll we were running. We didn't just talk Sonic though and besides going on about bees and Offkai Expo, we covered Mario, puzzle games, comfort games, and more. We even touched on those bowling memes that were wild af recently! Let us know what some of your comfort games are and some of your video game recommendations in general. Also, if you're watching this as opposed to just playing it in the background, be sure to check out JD's recs which he placed on-screen throughout even though we didn't acknowledge them mostly live. January 25, 2022 6:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Photaku Description: Ultra Podcast Z had a really fun and random episode that started with yet another last minute Nyaru cancellation! We had talked to Photaku about being on this New Year's Resolution episode though so for the third time he became the Nyaru replacement rather than a guest third host. It was also his birthday, a fact we didn't know when he was asked to be on and something we probably should've referred to more within the show itself. Anyway, even though we had a central topic to focus on this week we kinda lost the goat about twenty minutes in (complete with the usual technical difficulties) and talked a LOT about video games, video game collecting, and the process of selling retro game collections (as well as figures and stuff) in this somewhat inflated collectibles market. It was a somewhat random topic but the chat was really into it and JD didn't rein in the content as much as he usually does. Perhaps this is a taste of an eventual return to an A-to-J gaming podcast? Anyhow, we eventually did go back to the original idea and talk a bit more about new year's resolutions and Lunar New Year stuff before wrapping up. A random show all throughout that was fun nonetheless, if only Nyaru had shown up! July 13, 2021 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Badman JD Description: Ultra Podcast Z had another of our infamous "cursed episodes" as this was very nearly cancelled but we decided to soldier on, THEN all sorts of technical issues meant that we started a bit late and a lot of other random nonsense kept this episode from being up to par in general (also a nice place to mention that we're aware that it isn't the best quality and the audio does slowly drift out of sync from the video as the show goes on, but we did our best from the sources we had) but once again we're soldiering on. The show itself was quite fun and featured JD in a speaking role replacing Hinacchi who was supposed to be on. Originally we were going to focus far more on gaming and related topics but we decided to kind of float this one all over the place talking about such randomness as the joy of annoying cosplayers at cons and how GACKT recently became an anti-vaxxer. More on topic we talked about a bunch of games we're looking forward to and things we're playing now. Namely we mentioned a "sexy Dark Souls" game with "She Will Punish You" and updated everyone on the Cannibal Holocaust game we mentioned over a year ago now titled "Borneo: A Jungle Nightmare". All the technical stuff aside, this was actually a very fun, on point episode and we just wish that everything visually and audio-wise followed suit. There's always next week though. January 28, 2020 7:00 PM PST Hosts: Manuel Konaru Callie Description: Ultra Podcast Z is back and so is Konaru! She's back from Japan only missing the first episode of the year! Also returning is Callie who was on quite a few times in the past as well! This one had a lot of randomness all around and started with us talking about Sakamichi and AKS nonsense, the Tokyo Love Story remake and streaming services in Japan, and the big topic of the night, New and Upcoming Anime & Gaming releases for 2020! We covered a lot of titles in both categories but had a lot of fun talking about the Oshi to Budokan anime, "22/7 (Nanabun no Nijyuuni)", Interspecies Reviewers, Beastars, and LOTS more! Gaming was mostly dominated by talk of Animal Crossing: New Horizons but we also talked about titles like the Final Fantasy VII Remake, Breath of The Wild 2, and more! Lots to discuss and this was one of our most fun episodes in recent memory so be sure to check it out! December 4, 2018 7:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Konaru Sylvia Claus Description: Ultra Podcast Z launched it's second season with new logo and formatting and as usual we had a bit of a shaky start! Following the cancellation of the previous episode, we had a lot to live up to and while our content was as fast moving and random as ever there were some minor issues here and there, not the least of which was a bit of an audio mix issue regarding Manuel's microphone. That said we still managed to get a lot of topics in and went on for over two and a half hours without even falling back on long intros and outros! Sylvia was back and in full Krampus form and her original appearance on the podcast was the impetus to change up our format so it was only fitting to have her here and while this episode was a bit shaky at times we think it was really fun overall! We had somewhat of a shaky start and we actually DID have topics we were going to cover but we got VERY distracted about 20 minutes in when we started talking dieting and Thanksgiving. From there on we discussed foods and eventually somehow, video games. We spent most of the last part reminiscing about games with some of our viewers and eventually did come back to discuss a few music topics and to go over some upcoming podcast news!
