October 4, 2022 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Hao Description: Ultra Podcast Z is back on its Halloween bs and this is an interesting episode as we were originally going to have a completely different JD-centric episode due to some schedule nonsense and put together this episode just hours before go-time. This isn't TOO far from the usual UPZ nonsense, but it is interesting that we got Hao onto the show for the first time, thus completing his trifecta of appearing on every main A-to-J show we have! In the older days of our October episodes we used to cover the same topics with new hosts so we SORT OF did that here and went over some trick or treating memories and horror media stuff, but we kinda lost that plot about midway in. That was fine though as we had more than enough to talk about and even though Hao apparently isn't a big consumer of horror media that doesn't come in the form of movies (he REALLY needs to get on that horror musical thing though!) we still managed to talk a LOT about Twilight Zone towards the end. It's almost as if we had a Twilight Zone themed episode and kind of wasted it on the last segment here. That's fine though, maybe we'll have one in the future complete with monologue and us mouthing the theme. Would that be interesting or just ridiculous? We shall see! It's the first of our special spoopy episodes and we're talking Horror Movie Remakes! These special spoopy episodes are always a lot of fun and we look forward to them and make sure to never skip a week and this is the year that we decided to tackle some topics that have been floating around in years past but we never got around to doing. This was originally thought to be a tier list but seeing as we kinda relied on doing those when we were lazy, we decided to just have it as an open discussion and this is probably for the best as it gave us time to talk about things and still give us space to be random when we felt like it. Wes joined us for this one and there are definitely movies that we accidentally skipped but we covered most of the heavy hitters here and that was largely the goal to begin with. We actually managed to get some good recommendations out of this and didn't just tear apart all the remakes as you might have expected us to do so be sure to let us know what you think about what we had to say about them and let us know your thoughts on some horror movie remakes, especially ones we didn't cover here! Elsewhere we talked about idol graduations, Sora in Smash Bros., and some nonsense about Whole Foods, so keep an eye out for that stuff too! October 27, 2020 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Pleiades Description: Ultra Podcast Z is bringing the spoops! this is the LAST of our special Halloween UPZ episodes and, while we're sad to see the season come and go yet again, we look forward to moving back to a more regular schedule. This year we took a look at the scariest topic of all: The Year 2020! Pleiades joined us for this one (and yes, his camera DOES turn on towards the end!) and he actually wrote most of the outline for it, but we all experienced 2020 very similarly here in the US so we all had some things to say. Much like the year itself, the topics started somewhat light and we were shocked right away as to all that happened this year and the world-changing events that just kind of piled on top of each other to the point that they became quickly forgotten. We tried to not cover some of the more obvious, bigger topics like the pandemic and the protests that marked much of the year (and are still both very much ongoing) but we DID touch upon them so look forward to that. Also, once again like the year itself, things got much more serious as we got to more recent events and we had a HUGE deep dive into politics and voting. We'll repeat what we said live, go out and vote if you're an adult please. Well, there's much to be said but honestly just watch it and let us know some of your thoughts as this is quite the unusual episode for us. October 20, 2020 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Molly Jade Geoff Description: Ultra Podcast Z is bringing the spoops! We're nearing the end of our Halloween-themed shows and this one saw us doing yet another tier list! This series of streams started with a podcast dedicated to talking horror movies (featuring Snakz and Nyaru) and we joked then that maybe we should've made it into a tier list and seeing as there was one week still not properly planned out, we decided to do it! Originally seen as having completely different hosts (one of them being Nyaru) we decided on adding two new people to this one in the form of Jade and Geoff. Also, seeing as our recent Halloween Costume Tier List episode took a very long time to complete due to having five hosts (the most we've ever had btw) we decided to cap this one off at four, hence Nyaru's absence. That said, we still did manage to run this one into nearly four hours and we had a hell of a time ranking 40 of the biggest horror movies of all time! There are a lot of classics here but there are also a lot that we left off due to space and time considerations, so this will definitely be a topic that we return to next year, or perhaps even sooner! Anyhow, this one is a pretty good episode and if you look beyond the technical difficulties (Manuel's camera freezing and locking up for most of the stream and Molly's often harsh quality due to internet issues) there's a lot of fun to be had. We're in the middle of our Halloween-themed shows and this one saw us returning to tier lists again! Last year we ranked some of our favorite trick-or-treating candy and this time we decided to rank our some of the most popular costumes one sees on Halloween. This is by no means a complete list as it would be close to a hundred items long (at LEAST!) but the list was compiled using articles and sales data showing what the most popular costumes of recent years were and what was anticipated as being the "hot" costumes for 2020. Furthermore, Manuel and Ren have both worked at stores that sold Halloween costumes and the like so there was that expertise tossed in as well. It took a little longer than we thought to rank all the costumes, but it was a lot of fun and we also took a look at some silly "sexy" costumes as well as some favorites of from Ren's time working as a scare actor at a local amusement park. It's finally officially October and we're continuing our Halloween Schedule with an episode dedicated to spoopy games! Wesley (DarkWest) joined us for this one and as a fun little quirk, whenever there was a lull in the discussion Nyaru would read the Bee Movie script! That said, there wasn't really a lull as we covered a lot of material here from some older horror games (Friday The 13th for the NES for example) to newer stuff like P.T and Corpse Party's infamous "butter up my pooper" line. We also talked a lot about jump scares versus psychological horror games (looking at Five Nights at Freddy's and Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem) among others and even took a stab at covering the .exe games and once again discussing the Tails Doll creepypasta from Sonic R. Lots more stuff was discussed with RPG Maker games, discussing whether or not these games are really "scary", and even covering/plugging some of our recent spoopy game streams happening this month. September 22, 2020 6:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Nyaru Description: Ultra Podcast Z sees the return of Nyaruchuuu and a LOT of "Among Us" nonsense! Schedule conflicts made it so that this week's episode didn't have a guest co-host, but we continued on with the two topics of "Among Us" being an addicting game and the upcoming holidays, especially Halloween, on the horizon. After a bunch of randomness, intros, and updates, we finally got down to talking about "Among Us". Nyaru had recently participated in several collabs recently where she played the game and Manuel had played several over the recent weekend and A-to-J in general has been planning a lot of random "Among Us" streams! Well, this conversation turned into us actually playing with some of our viewers with Nyaru hosting first. After a couple games we realized that something was wrong with her lobby, so Manuel hosted and we had a few more participants! A lot of fun ensued with Nyaru killing Manuel IMMEDIATELY in the first game (though it was missed because of replying to something in the chat) and Molly killing a fan of hers in front of another player. After all that, we finally moved on to talk about Halloween and outlined some of the changes that 2020 is bringing to the holiday, as well as revealing some of our upcoming plans! October 29, 2019 7:00 PM PDT Hosts: Manuel Konaru Jordan Description: Ultra Podcast Z is bringing back its special Halloween episodes again this year and this last one is by far the most random. Almost cancelled, we decided to have a very chill night and just talk randomness among things like revisiting topics and discussing our Halloween plans. It's worth noting that Jordan showed up late (about 30 minutes in) and Konaru mainly was represented by a live drawing screen. The topic eventually shifted to ARGs and we discussed Daisy Brown at length before moving onto the "Hey Walter, Meet My Girlfriend" video, which also marked Jordan's entry. Besides an amusing story from Jordan regarding why he was late, we moved into some gaming. After spending a long time troubleshooting it, we went into an... interesting game of "7 Days To Die" and ultimately... died! We unfortunately lost audio in the stream not too long after that, but we think it's still a lot of fun if you want something different from us!
