That said we moved to Discord which had SOME of its own issues but for once the show was about the usual nonsense and not us fighting the stream in general. For the first time in a long time Warren was not on DTL and Weston joined in to fill in his spot with Molly coming back this week as well. We were hoping for quicker presentations this time around, and while we probably didn't do that we did make pretty good time and none of the presentations felt overly long at the end. Callie had another somewhat open presentation on Makerspaces, Weston talked Mario, Manuel a game called "New Horizons" that isn't Animal Crossing, and Molly and Pleiades took some really interesting, funny topics. Tile-kun though was a lot of fun to talk about and it was more than a little weird, in a good way. The usual in-between banter might be a little on the short side, but we did have a rather long-ish intro and did we mention that this is technically one part of the DTL One Year Anniversary? Here's the forty-fourth episode of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and this is a weird one. It's not weird in terms of hosts as it's our five standard hosts (Molly joining again) and our presentations were all long, but not surprisingly so, but there was a lot of weirdness when it comes to the visuals of this show. We have been talking about leaving Zoom (which is what we use for our calls) for a while now and we latched onto the idea of using Skype after learning about a lot of features it had in the back end that could help us out. Then we learned about "Together Mode". The entire first 30 minutes of this show is basically us having fun with the mode and waiting until Molly joined us. The rest is kind of normal, but the changes in call meant some quirks in the show itself that we weren't expecting. Also, a lot of errors happened at the end and literally everything dropped at one point. We apologize if any of this is odd but these videos have chapters so you can just skip to segments if you like. Presentations are the usual fare with Warren talking fighting games, Manuel talking lesser-known movie sequels, Callie having an open discussion of sorts regarding the Urban Rescue Ranch, and more. We also had wombats and a surprising presentation on Sega from Pleiades. A fun show even if we probably never use Skype again in the future. This was the first time we've gone with just four hosts (though there were two other shows where we were reduced to just four by the end) and maybe that has something to do with it as we chose not to have Kyuu or someone sit in not presenting on this one. Four presentations is nothing new to us though but it's still rather impressive that we managed to make this one stretch to nearly five hours in spite of a quicker start and far fewer presentations. Anyhow, remember how we were four presenters this time around? Well, in an odd quirk, we were reduced to just three rather early on and carried on as a DTL trio for most of this one. We're troopers though and even though the curse didn't end there (lots of arguing in Callie's presentation and Pleiades' somehow going on for about an hour due to connection issues) we did our best. Still a fun episode that actually had a very active chat and the like and we hope that if we return to four hosts that we keep them for longer into the show. Here's the forty-second episode of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and it was a return to VERY LONG PRESENTATIONS! We went over five and a half hours on this one and we only had five presenters. It was quite an accomplishment when you think about it. A lot of the presentations went over 45 mins (even Matt & Molly who said that they were going to have short ones) and we had a LONG, nearly hour intro before we even got to the first presentation. That said, the presentations were really good and no one really wanted this one to end early. This week saw Warren leave and Matthew come back for the first time this year. He talked hentai plots and other presentations included one on the "devil horns" gesture and the K-Pop group Dreamcatcher, both presentations which have minor cuts to them due to copyright issues btw. Elsewhere there was cognitive distortion and Hideki Naganuma and, besides the LONG intro, there was very little down time in-between presentations once we realized we were going WAY over time. That said, it's still a fun episode in spite of its length though the next couple will probably be shorter and tighter until we inevitably let time slip from us again with more six-hour episodes. We had a break before starting though so there isn't exactly any content missing here. Also, Pleiades' presentation was hit with a copyright strike and we had to cut out the first three minutes of his presentation. TL;DR it was a video about how locals HATE the "Joker Stairs" in Queens, New York. The funnier part about this clip having to be cut was that we KNEW it would be cut when we were live and actually started singing "DMCA" to the tune of "YMCA". If anything, it's THAT part being gone that makes this most sad. He had a long presentation though and that was definitely just an intro bit so rest assured it's all still here and there's another plus to watching live! Anyway, there were only four presentations this time, with Kyuu sitting in to make a fifth non-presenter, and all you need to know before diving into this one is that we're all going to go to the Renaissance Faire when this whole quarantine thing is all tidily wrapped up! This time we chose to tackle things from our childhood and with a premise as loose as that, the presentations were all over the place! First off, Molly and Weston returned for this one so we had a grand total of six hosts and we were talking about topics that almost inherently make it so that we'd be talking for a very long time, so we moved fast. There is very little down time between the presentations and even though some presentations pushed past the 40 minute mark, we tried our best to keep things tight. We still brought it in under five hours but this is definitely one of the longer DTL streams we've had in recent memory. That aside we had a really varied set of presentations with two dealing with shows from childhood and two dealing (sort of) with religious topics, so we almost had mini themes at work here without even trying. There was a lot of fun and all the usual nonsense but it's a little odd filling out the chapters and realizing that the in-between dragged out segments aren't here. Let us know if you miss them or if we should always just get on with things! There also was a feeling of relaxation with this one as we knew going into it that with a nice milestone of 40 episodes, we'd be taking a week off, so look forward to our next DTL after Easter with a brand new guest! Here's the thirty-ninth episode of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and we managed to follow up one of our shortest episodes in recent months with one of our longest! We had a theme this time around again and this time everyone knew what it was. What was that theme? Well, "guilty pleasure media" of course! This was originally angled at anime and the like but would be expanded to all media as we discussed this following the previous DTL. Molly is still gone (though apparently might've been on in an alternate universe) and Kyuu once again did a legit presentation. There was more genderbending stuff from Callie, more weird stuff from Pleiades, more music from Warren, and more bs from Manuel. A great episode all around that managed to be very varied even with a theme. A slow start and long presentations all around kept this one really long though, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Check this one out for a lot of random outbursts, and that weird laugh thing from Callie, and stick around by learning a few things. While we're not sure if themes will keep popping up every episode, there will be a theme in the upcoming DTL so keep an eye out for that one too! Here's the thirty-eighth episode of our "Drink Talk Learn" streams and this proved to be one of those rare "quick" shows that happen every so often and see us wrap everything up in under four hours. It probably helped in this one that we were down a host and only had four presentations, but it was still quite the rare feat with recent DTLs. Presentations were all on point (Though there was some weird technical difficulties with Pleiades, but that kind of seems par for the course these days.) and even though the in-between banter seemed a bit more restrained compared to previous weeks, there still was a lot of nonsense to go around from "Bass Pro Shop Callie", random clips being shown that were supposed to stay private, and even the VERY abrupt ending to the show that even had the hosts shocked. There also was something of a graphical upgrade in the show itself and we tweaked a few things on the live stream end so don't ever let it be said that Drink Talk Learn is a never-evolving show! Will the coming weeks prove to be as nice as this one? Well, you shall have to wait and see!
